I made this piece for a past group show I was in, with a theme of "Imaginary portraits, inspired by names popular in the mid-twentieth century."
I had the name Blanche, so I depicted the iconic Golden Girls character Blanche Devereaux. In the show she worked in an art gallery, so I worked from a young photo of Rue McClanahan and imagined her as a young "gallerina." I included one of my favorite Blanche lines from the show in/around the image.
The inks I used for the abstract background are slightly glittery/iridescenct.
This is an original painting and there aren't prints or cards of it, so it's completely one of a kind!
This piece has a wire on the back so you can hang it up, or just stand it up on a tabletop or bookshelf.
